Poker

Basically, poker is a gambling game where you try to win the pot by making the best hand. Poker is usually played with a standard 52 card deck, chips and chairs. Most games have a blind bet and an ante.

All players are dealt two cards face down and are then dealt another card face up. In the middle of the table is a pot. In the pot is the aggregate of all bets made by all players in a deal. The winning hand is determined by the highest card.

A standard hand is comprised of two distinct pairs of cards plus the fifth card. In some games, the ace is treated as the lowest card, while in others it is considered as the highest card. The Royal Flush is a straight flush with an Ace high. The highest possible hand is a straight flush, which is five cards in the same suit. The kicker is the highest card in the deck, which is also the highest ranking card in a high-card hand.

The game begins with the first player making a bet. This is called a raise. The other players match the amount of the first bet. If a player does not match the bet, the player folds. If a player folds, the player does not compete for the pot.

If two or more players have the same poker hand, a tie is broken by the highest unmatched card. In a seven-card stud, a tie is broken by the highest pair, but in a five-card stud, a tie is broke by the highest pair and the second pair.
