China’s Wu Delivers A Massive Win!

April 26 will go down in China's golf history as a truly great day of achievement. Because, it was on this day that one of its favourite golf sons, Alex Wu Ashun became the first Chinese golfer to win a European Tour event on home soil.

This is huge by any measure and it was a proud day for both Alex and China because victory in the Volvo China Open came from a battle that he had to fight against some of the best golfers from the European tour and from Asia.

Asian Golf contacted his long-time coach Joe Thiel in Florida and this was his reaction, "From the first moment that I set my eyes on Alex, I knew we had a star for the future – he displayed tremendous talent and natural skill and had that special desire to want to win." Thiel continued, "It was a real pleasure coaching and guiding Alex through his development and we are absolutely delighted at this incredible win".

Alex shot a 9-under par to lift the title after England's David Howell fell apart on the final hole as he was going to force a play-off with Alex.

It was a memorable day for China because besides Alex's impressive win, another young Chinese, 19-year old Li, Hao-tong played a very entertaining round to finish sixth on his own. He was paired with Howell in the last flight of the fourth round and provided glimpses of his skill that will take him to great heights in the future.

Watch these two youngsters lead the China challenge going forward.
